BINDWEED'S FLOWER PRODUCTION

Located near Blackfoot, Idaho, Bindweed Farm primarily sells cuts to designers in the resort areas of Sun Valley, Idaho and Jackson, Wyoming, as well as to florists in Southeast Idaho from  mid-March to  late September.
Bindweed's product includes nearly ninety different cultivars, from French tulips in mid-March to woodies like snowberry and coralberry in late September. Seven thousand square feet under protective plastic provides room for an extended season in Idaho's short, 120 day growing window, and five acres outdoors gives ample area for Bindweed's diverse offerings.
The Farm's  product includes  traditional flowers like sunflowers, larkspur, snapdragons, sweet peas and tulips, but also the more exotic tweedia, asclepias, bells of Ireland, atriplex and chasmanthium. Bindweed also sells grasses, pods, branches and foliage.

Bindweed Farm was given a grant in 2002 for the study of Nonhardy Bulb Production in Hoophouses in Northern Climates. Read the study conclusions and  the grant proposal itself.
In 2006, the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers provided Bindweed with a grant to test 250 roses for fragrance, hardiness, cutting quality and marketability.
Bindweed grows nearly 90 different species of flowers, some unusual to the floral trade. Click on the flower name for a picture.
